The Pedroia example is a pretty good one on this point--instead of even being tempted to rush him up last year when Bellhorn faltered, they eat Bellhorn's salary and go get Graffanino, a $2M/year player. Few teams have that luxury. Besides a lot of no name minor league players, who get no love from their respective organizations, make it on the big stage and there are many variables to consider. The Sox have gotten lucky, to a large degree, with Papelbon and the jury is still out on Lester, Hansen, and Declareman. Ironically, we hired Baird (former Royals GM)as a consultant. Maybe he'll be Theo's NO MAN...whatever he says Theo will do the opposite....
