I listened to Joe Castiglione yesterday and he had that sad, resigned, "2001" kind of tone in his voice. I find many former Sox players-now-broadcasters fairly bitter and partisan like “He Gone” Hawk Harrelson and Hendu (who disparaged Boston’s 2006 defense, which, admittedly, hasn’t been great lately). Awkward, sort of stumbling. Ok, sure, not really insightful. Well, that does sound bad. But I agree with the previous post that the He Gone guy could not possibly be more irritating. Unless he was Jeff Brantley. For Brantley is nasty and condescending. At least Hendu isn't that nasty. And he seems to have vision enough to notice that: Manny was safe at third.
