I almost cried when I saw the season three in a normal case. It was like a loved one had died and there was nothing at the funeral but a photograph and a wreath. I thought we deserved a strand of the Oscar wig, at least. Sheesh.

Any Arrested Development reference is welcome. Maybe this half of the season is a blessing in disguise--it'll weed out all of those people who jumped on the '03 and '04 bandwagon who are buying up all the tickets and are annoying to the rest of us.

Stop apologizing for the regime, Seth! We all know you're in their back pockets! A much more sober analysis comes from Shags today, who beats the Abreu horse some more. If only we had traded for Bobby Abreu, we might have gone 11-19 in August instead of 9-21! We'd have a $25 million dollar anchor on our payroll and two fewer prospects in our farm system ... and we'd still be 4.5 games back of the wild card with only 28 games to play ... but dammit, it would look like we were doing something! And that's what's important, right?

Didnt see the beginning of the game last night. Can anyone who was there or had NESN feed tell us what the fan reaction was like? I am hoping they took the advice of Seth and others and applauded the guys who are out there doing their best. Something tells me the return of Papi on Saturday will herald quite the ovation.

And one strange personal observation: I am well aware that Roy Halladay is one of the best pitchers in the game, and Albert Pujols is probably the best hitter. But why is it that every time I see these guys, either flipping through the Extra Innings Package, or playing the Sox, they look extremely human? Just coincidence, I guess. The Sox just seem to knock around the Roy Halladay's of the world, and look like AA hitters against the Ted Lilly's. Strange...
