Now that Manny has been dubbed a "bargain" and not a salary dump if the Sox move him they better get fair value. Actually, due to supply and demand, the Sox should get the better end of the deal. With all due respect to Juan Rivera, they need to think a little bigger than that. Scott Shields, Erik Aybar and a legit pitching prospect.

But I just can't see the logic in signing JD Drew to a 15+ million dollar contract (word is that the price has gone up) and to replace Manny's bat in the line up. Giving close to Manny money to be half the batter is just not good business.

I still believe they should try to trade Manny. I love the guy, but I've grown tired of his shenanegans, especially after he quit on us in Sep. Anaheim might be a solid trading partner. I would target Scot Shields, Juan Rivera, and perhaps a prospect. Rivera replaces Manny, Shields gives us an elite set-up/closer type which we sorely need. The lineup would take a hit (even if we do end up with Drew), but pitching is what ultimately wins.
